Lavon Percentie and her husband Richard come from entrepreneurial families. His mother, for example, affectionately known as “Ma Ruby,” runs Tingum Village hotel and restaurant. One of her brothers, Humphrey aka “Hitler,” runs the Vic Hum nightclub. And Lavon owns Queen Conch cafe on Bay Street. Although known most for its fresh conch salad, Queen Conch is also known for dishes that venture beyond the usual take-away fare of mostly fried foods. And Lavon herself is known for being a fair and savvy business person.
